Frequently asked questions about the Ceramic by Issembert treatment

When is the first visit to the orthodontist?
The first orthodontic visit should take place at age 7. If the child has an orthodontic anomaly that requires early treatment, a short treatment (less than one year) will be initiated in order to avoid long and difficult situations at the time of the global treatment (between 11 and 14 years old).
Should wisdom teeth be extracted because they would cause the teeth to shift after treatment?
Wisdom teeth are not responsible for the recurrence of overlapping teeth. In fact, a comparative study between a group of individuals without wisdom teeth and another group with wisdom teeth showed that equivalent overlapping teeth reappeared after treatment. The solution to this recurrence is not to have these teeth extracted but to place a fixed retainer on the inner surface of the front teeth. The wisdom teeth are extracted when they do not have enough room to “come out” properly.
My teeth are overlapping, will the situation get worse if I wait?
Overlapping teeth are as inevitable as wrinkles. It is a sign of aging. To prevent the situation from getting worse, the teeth must be aligned and a fixed, invisible retainer must be placed on the inner surface of the front teeth.

Teeth move throughout life, but this movement is slow. There is no need to rush into treatment. However, if you wait several years and the overlaps become more pronounced, treatment may require tooth extractions to make room for alignment.

Can the restraint be removed at the end of growth?
The retainer must remain in place for life because teeth move throughout life. This retainer is invisible, does not interfere, cleans very well and does not damage the teeth. It can be removed in a few minutes at any time.
Do I have to wear a nighttime device after my treatment is over?
No. Dr. Issembert’s restraint system allows you to avoid wearing braces at night after treatment.
Is the Ceramic by Issembert treatment covered by social security?

If the treatment starts before the age of 16, the social security covers part of the treatment and then the mutual insurance company takes over.

If treatment begins after the age of 16, there is no longer social security coverage, but there are mutual insurance companies that reimburse part of the treatment. You can contact us by phone, email or on Instagram for more information.

If the treatment is ortho-surgical and begins after the age of 16, the social security system will cover the cost of one semester of treatment.

If I have to have surgery, can I still have a Ceramic by Issembert treatment?
It all depends on your contract. The coverage is not always clear. When you come for your first consultation at Dr. Issembert’s Orthodontic Office, we call your mutual insurance company to help you find out how much you are covered. If you do not have any reimbursement, we recommend the VESPER mutual insurance company, which covers orthodontics for adults very well.
